the performance was held on april 14, 2021 on the chertanovka river in bitsevsky forest, moscow.

spring is the time of the awakening of nature, the opening of its new cycle, its rebirth. the passage of a big blue fish along the river chertanovka
is a journey upstream from the mouth of the river to its source, which draws a symbolic line in the life cycle of the fish and opens its new stage. overcoming the force of the current and the obstacles that it encounters on the way, the big blue fish undergoes an initiation rite, in which it becomes adult. the force that pulls us to search for our life purpose is the same force that pulls the big blue fish toward the source in an attempt to find a point that will suddenly make everything clear and definite. but the source of the river is in the depths of the earth, underground, remaining unseen to one’s eyes, so the fish can only see the water flowing out of the ground. it’s the closest the fish can get to the source.
