and how it makes everything smooth and round
whether it’s a rock or a piece of glass rolled in waves
or a tree trunk, naked and smooth, not rotten but salted by the sea
washed up on a pebble beach of a sanatorium
and the wave ridge itself, genlty rounded, however powerful the wave is
