Tanya Chayka (b. 1999) is a photographer and artist from St Petersburg, Russia, who is currently based in Bedford, UK.

Alongside photography, she works with text and performance. In her practice Tanya explores nature, its integral parts and their everchanging states of being as well as a variety of ways, in which people may communicate with it. Natural cycles, the consistency of death and further rebirth is that helps set her own coordinates. Through self-portraiture Tanya finds the way to integrate her body into the landscape.

At the moment her main interest is the of exploration of new territories through a nomadic consciousness based on the experience of constant migration and the question of how one’s cognition works when desciphering a territory and creating a personal image of it.

In 2020 Tanya graduated from HSE Art&Design school in Moscow, with a major in Fashion and Commercial Photography. Selected prints are available from «Experiment» gallery of contemporary photography.
